Seacoast Studios assists individuals in making a significant contribution to the growth and development of the performing arts, their community, and the world by encouraging them to discover, develop, actualize and communicate the full spectrum of their unique personality in performance and in the world.
The Mandate of the Studios is to offer training that demonstrates our commitment to the philosophy, development, practice and art of ensemble acting.
We create and produce works of artistic merit and social significance for communities on the North Shore of Vancouver, BC, and throughout Western Canada.
Seacoast classes are based on distinctive, impulse-based techniques. From Shakespearean to contemporary text, actors embody the script, which allows them to respond as naturally in performance as we do in real life.
Our integrated mentoring structure supports classroom theory with experiential learning. Seacoast Mentors are professional actors from the Company who work alongside students on a regular basis. Their participation raises the level of work for everyone, and develops life-long collaborative relationships.
Seacoast Studios programs incorporate ongoing performance opportunities to test and hone the techniques learned in class.
Seacoast actors unleash their creativity and put their voice into the world through development of self-created work. Our graduates are trained to develop plays, films, and independent projects that build connections and open doors to further opportunities.
Seacoast Studios is unique to western Canada in its association with Seacoast Theatre Company. Advanced students may be invited to join the Company’s professional and touring productions.
The Seacoast teaching ensemble develops relationships with our students that allow for individually focused training. We maintain a maximum of 12 students per class.
We prioritize safety, support, and integrity; responsibility and commitment to self, to the ensemble, and to the work.
Seacoast classes are held in a spacious, inspiring studio on the water in West Vancouver, overlooking Stanley Park and the Burrard Inlet.
Students from Seacoast Studios have gained acceptance into: The National Theatre School, The Actors Studio, The Yale School of Drama (Masters Program), The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, The London Academy of Dramatic Art, Central Theatre School, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, East 15 (Masters Program), University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, and Arizona State University.
