The Pioneer Years

The Pioneer Years expounds the diverse voices of immigrant and first generation Canadians (Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, German, French, Irish, Scottish, English, Jewish, & American) who survived the hardships of opening the Canadian West.

Seacoast Theatre Centre’s highly acclaimed production of Ten Lost Years has played to sold-out houses throughout Western Canada for the past three years. Using the same theatrical techniques of first-hand stories, unforgettable music, and striking images from the period, Seacoast has created The Pioneer Years: 1895-1914.

Our purpose is to honour the thousands who immigrated to Canada at the turn of the 20th century and to tell their extraordinary stories to their families, their communities and to a new generation of Canadians who absolutely deserve to hear them.
